April 11-12, 2008 - New Orleans: V-Day, the global movement to end violence against women and girls, celebrated its tenth anniversary in New Orleans. Organizers estimate that over 30,000 people attended the events over the two days. Thousands traveled from out of state and country for the events that featured over 125 speakers, over 40 stars, a choir of 200, and over 800 volunteers.
Eve Ensler, founder of VDay was host of discussion about women in Conflict Zones and Disaster sites, where representatives from former Yugoslavia, Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Philippines etc. discussed about the problem in their countries. A representative of RAWA was part of this discussion and talked about ongoing tragedy under the US domination in Afghanistan.
