According to her, during the past few days, the Taliban prevented the travel of several female students and have detained them. These students have been released with the help of professors. A student added: "The Taliban have told the female students that no one is allowed to travel to their provinces without a male escort based on Islamic law." Female students say that they cannot bring their muharram to Balkh due to economic problems. Nazanin (pseudonym), says: "Our economic situation is not good enough to ask our father or brother from our province to accompany us. We find our own expenses with lots of problems." Although there is no accurate statistics of female students who are from other provinces and live in government hostels; but it is said that there are 100 to 150 girls living in five separate hostels. It is said that the Taliban have imposed restrictions on the hostels of female students in other provinces as well. Among the female students in the hostel of Jawzjan University, they say that the Taliban have warned them for two days that they are not allowed to leave the hostel without a muharram.
