Girl students in Bamyan tore down banners of Taliban in protest

Afghan women have always raised their voices for their rights and their voice for justice will continue.

Local sources in Bamyan province say female students tore down Taliban banners in response to a "staged" support program. This happened three days ago in Bamyan.

Women of Bamyan tore down Taliban banners
A clip widely circulated on Social Media show Afghan women protesting to the Taliban gathering. They tore down banners of Taliban.

According to sources, Bamyan University officials had asked female students to participate in a women's rights program at the Bamyan Sports Stadium, but when the girls attended the program, they realized that the program was not in support of women's rights, but in support of the Taliban.

According to sources, banners in support of the Taliban and the release of foreign exchange reserves by the United States and other foreign countries were hung on the walls.

One of the participants in the program, who did not want to be named, told the daily Etilaat-e-Rooz that the female students had no prior knowledge of the program's contents and that when confronted with the Taliban support program, they "became angry and tore down the banners and left the scene."

"Afghan women and girls have reached intellectual maturity and will not allow anyone to abuse the status of women," said another participant.

According to her, Afghan women have always raised their voices for their rights and their voice for justice will continue.

Last winter, girls chanted slogans in support of girls' education during a Taliban local government program in Daikundi, calling for schools to be reopened to female students.
