Five children were murdered in PD10's Wazir Abad area of Kabul city on Sunday.
The five children were all between the ages of four and 16 years old.
The children reportedly died from axe wounds. Their bodies were then set alight, police said.
The reason for the murders is not clear but Kabul police said two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Razia, the mother of the five children said that she had been at work at the time of the murders.
“I was washing people’s clothes outside,” Razia said.
Ahmad Big, the father of the children said he had also been out at the time of the incident. He said he had been out looking for work.
“If there is really a government then they must investigate this, find out who did this and who killed innocent children,” Big said.
The relatives said that the victims were first axed to death and then their bodies were burned.
“If there had just been a fire here then there wouldn't be so much blood," said Benazir, one relative.
“... me by myself brought the bodies out of the house,” Zarifa another relative said.
Kabul police have said that two suspects were arrested in connection with the crime but did not provide further details.
