A report by the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) said today that 190 women were killed from April to September in this country.
According to the report that was presented on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, only 51 perpetrators were arrested and prosecuted.
During this period, 2,579 episodes of violence were committed against women in Afghanistan, an increase of 7.32 percent over the same period in 2014, the report said.
It added that 28.34 percent of these episodes showed physical punishment, 7.1 percent registered sexual violence and 34.90 percent included verbal or psychological abuse.
AIHRC Commissioner Qadria Yazdanparast specified that 101 deaths were linked to extra or premarital affairs, in which women were usually punished and raped.
