Abdul Hadin, who was a member of the Afghan National Police (ANP) before losing a leg in a suicide attack, has blasted government for allegedly ignoring his plight.

Hadi, who was left disabled in a Zabul bombing, claims the government has done nothing to help with medical treatment.

Hadi who lives in northeastern Badakhshan said he served 13 years in the police force and he is the only breadwinner for his family.

"The suicide attacker injured me and now I am left disabled. I want the government to help me with treatment in order for me to return back to service," Hadi said.

Joining her father's call for support, his daughter complained about their dire economic situation. She called on businessmen and aid organizations to assist them.

"My request from the government is to assist my father in his medications and send him abroad for better treatment," she said.

However, Zabul Police Chief Ghulam Jailani said the local police had helped but he called for the interior ministry to assist the policeman.

"The resources available to us helped us to send him to Kandahar and Kabul for treatment. But now we want the central government to send him abroad for further treatment," he said.

In addition, officials from Zabul Provincial Council also expressed concerns over government's failure to help victims of the war among security forces.

"Our demand for the central government is to focus on the medical treatment of wounded veterans particularly those wounded in Zabul," head of Zabul provincial council Atta Jan Haqbayan stressed.
