2 civilians shot dead by ISAF soldiers

Foreigner soldiers abruptly opened fire on a car carrying civilians, killing two of them

By Bashir Ahmad Naadem

Foreign troops killed two civilians in the Daman district of southern Kandahar province on Saturday, an official claimed.

The incident took place in the this afternoon in front of the airport on the Spin Boldak highway, police spokesman Zia Durrani told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Foreigner soldiers abruptly opened fire on a car carrying civilians, killing two of them, he added.

Samim Khpalwak, the governor’s spokesman, said he contacted International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) soon after the incident.

The spokesman was told the civilian car had violated ISAF orders and tried to move ahead of the convoy. ISAF soldiers opened fire on the car in self-defence.

An unauthorized vehicle attempted to enter a secure area in Southern Afghanistan. After several visual and other warnings to stop were ignored, escalation of force was required to prevent the car from entering. ISAF Said in statement.
