Three civilians were killed and two others seriously wounded in a drone airstrike by NATO-led troops in the capital of central Logar province on Friday, an official said.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Hakim Ishaqzai, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News the unmanned aircraft conducted the strike in the Padkhab area of Pul-i-Alam around noon.
“The pilotless aircraft targetted five civilians, who were busing working at a construction site in the area,” he said, adding the poor labourers had no links with any militant group.
The injured were evacuated to a Kabul hospital for medical treatment. Resident Haji Abdur Rauf said he saw the victims at the construction site after hearing a powerful blast in the neighbourhood.
