One civilian was killed and four others, including two children, were injured in two separate explosions in northern Jawzjan province, an official said on Wednesday.

A 20-year-old shepherd was killed and two of his sisters injured during the first blast in the Chakosh village of Aqcha district, police official Col. Abdul Manan Raufi told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The girls, between two and 10 years of age, were evacuated to the main provincial hospital for treatment. He blamed the rebels for planting the explosives.

He said the second explosion took place on the Aqcha-Mangjik highway, injuring two policemen, including an officer, and damaging a vehicle.
