At least five persons including the suicide bomber and four civilians were killed and 35 other civilians sustained injuries as a suicide car bomb rocked the fortified Afghan capital city Kabul on Sunday, Interior Ministry said in a statement released here.

"A suicide bomber riding explosive-laden car blew it up next to a convoy of foreign forces on Darul Aman road at 11:30 a.m. local time today killing himself and four others, all innocent civilians, " said the statement.

"Those killed in the suicide attack include two children, a woman and man and 35 other civilians including a child and a lady sustained injuries," it said.

An armored personnel carrier of the NATO-led forces was damaged in the attack but there were no casualties, the statement said.

Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid, who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit, in talks with media via telephone from unknown location took responsibility of the bloody attack and said militants attacked foreign forces convoy in Kabul on Sunday destroying two tanks.

Taliban-linked militancy has increased in Kabul recently.

One civilian was killed and eight others including four security personnel and four civilians sustained injuries as two bombs went off elsewhere in Kabul on Saturday.

A rocket obviously fired by militants on Friday night, according to officials struck the military section of Kabul airport damaging properties but caused no loss of life.
