Participants of a protest demonstration on Thursday accused some Ministry of Defence (MoD) officials of having grabbed land allotted for public welfare projects in the central capital Kabul.
More than 100 individuals took part in the protest rally held in Qargha area in the 5th police district before noon.

They accused three MoD officials of grabbing lands allocated for a park, a kindergarten and a healthcare centre. They urged the authorities to stop construction works on the sites.
The protestors also destroyed foundation stones laid in the disputed areas and warned to continue their protests if their demands were ignored.
One of the protestors, Col. Mohiuddin Hashimi, said the lands had been devoted to a healthcare centre, a kindergarten and a park more than 20 years ago.
“Land mafia has been trying to forcibly grab these plots by constructing houses on them, but we will allow nobody to do so.”
Another protestor, Dr. Fazel Ahmad Dawar, said some warlords were trying to steal the public property.
He said: “During the course of political transition, some outlaws are making attempts to construct buildings on the plots by taking advantage of the uncertainty, but we will not let them succeed.”
However, a MoD spokesperson when contacted said he was unaware of the issue.
