In a fresh cross-border attack, Pakistani forces on Wednesday fired at least 18 artillery shells into eastern Kunar province, leaving several domestic animals dead and damaging a mosque.
Brig. Gen. Abdul Habib Syedkhel, the provincial police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that Pakistani military had been shelling Dangam district since Tuesday night.
Six animals were killed and a mosque damaged when several shells landed in the district, he added. In the last one week, 150 shells have been fired from Pakistan into the province, displacing some families.
