Six dead, 30 wounded in two attacks in Afghanistan

A roadside bomb hit a vehicle on its way to a wedding in the eastern province of Nangarhar

At least six people including two Army officers were killed and 30 others injured on Sunday in two separate attacks in Afghanistan, officials confirmed.

A roadside bomb hit a vehicle on its way to a wedding in the eastern province of Nangarhar, killing two civilians and injuring eight others.

“The incident took place today in Achin district,” Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, spokesman for the provincial government said, adding women and children were among the victims.

Earlier, a suicide bomber targeted an air force bus in the Afghan capital Kabul. Two Army officers and two civilians were killed and 22 others wounded as a result.

“The bomber on foot blew himself up next to an Army staff bus in (the) eastern part of Kabul,” the police confirmed.

Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing, saying that 27 officers had been killed.

Earlier this month, a group of Taliban militants attacked a Lebanese restaurant in a highly-fortified Kabul area, killing 21 people including 13 foreigners.
