Police have arrested a man who allegedly shot dead his wife and injured two other women as a result of domestic violence in northwestern Faryab province, an official said on Saturday.
The man opened fire at his spouse on Friday night in Maimana, the provincial capital, killing her and wounding two other women of his family, the police chief said.
Maj. Gen. Nabi Jan Mullah Khail told Pajhwok Afghan News he believed domestic violence was behind the incident. The killer was arrested and an investigation launched into the case.
The Independent Human Rights Commission office in Faryab said it was 11th incident of the kind taking place in the province during the ongoing solar year. The office head, Syed Hafizullah Fitrat, condemned the incident.
