Police on Monday arrested three men for allegedly gang-rapping a 15-year-old boy a day earlier in northeastern Kunduz province.
Crime branch chief, Col. Waisuddin Talash, told Pajhwok Afghan News the detainees took the boy to a home at gun-point in Kunduz City and gang-raped him on Sunday.
Police later launched an operation to arrest the rapists and detained the three suspects last night, he added.
The Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) in its annual report said 470 cases of child rape had been recorded this year, showing a 28 percent rise.
The report cited fewer arrests in connection with such cases as a key reason behind increasing sexual attacks against children.
