Her father said unidentified gunmen stormed his home last night and abducted his 15-year old daughter and freed her the next morning

By Habibur Rahman Sherzai

A group of unidentified gunmen gang raped a teenage girl after kidnapping her from home in Doshi district of the northern Baghlan province, the victim’s father wishing not to be named said.

Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, her father said unidentified gunmen stormed his home in Kelgi area of the district last night and abducted her 15-year old daughter who said the kidnapper freed her daughter next morning.

Soon after the grievous incident, he approached the area security officials but they did not pay any heed to pursue the case. He then rushed to seek the cooperation of Baghlan security commander to arrest the perpetrators.

Brig. Gen. Aminullah Amerkhel, provincial police chief, said he ordered the arrest of the perpetrators the moment he received complaint of the tragic incident. The main culprit and the ring leader of the group had been detained, he said, adding but the rest two offenders were yet to be nabbed.

He said the police official of the first security post was being interrogated for discharging inefficiency in his duty.

Awranus Atefi, Provincial Women’s Affairs Director, while expressing grave concern over the incident told Pajhwok Afghan News the girl and her father had visited the department to register their complaint.

Atefi said the girl was bad condition who demanded the security officials to nab the accused and award them exemplary punishment.

It merits mention that it is the fourth gang rape case against girls during the last one month in the province.
