Kamdesh comes under cross-border strike

Col. Farooq Nuristani said at least one person had been killed and three others wounded as a result of the cross-border attacks

By Mahbob Shah Mahbob

The Kamdesh district of eastern Nuristan province has come under missile strike from Pakistan's soil, an official said on Friday.

Dozens of missiles had landed in Gordesh area since Thursday night, Nuristan's acting police chief told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Col. Farooq Nuristani said at least one person had been killed and three others wounded as a result of the cross-border attacks. "The missile strikes have also entailed financial losses."

A number of domestic animals have been killed and civilian houses damaged, according to the governor's spokesman, Zahir Bahand, who said higher-ups in Kabul had been informed.

Provincial council's deputy head Amanullah Inayatur Rahman, meanwhile, urged the central government to come up with a tit-for-tit response to attacks from Pakistan.

"The government in Kabul remains silent, as missile and bullets rain down on us from across the Durand Line," he complained, saying the people would no longer tolerate such naked aggression.
