A 40-year-old woman was beheaded in the Alisher district of southeastern Khost province, officials said on Monday.
The incident took place in Parokhil area on Sunday night and the woman's dead body was found outside her house early in the morning, the district police chief said.
Gul Jan told Pajhwok Afghan News the victim’s husband and co-wife had been detained in connection with the murder.
Resident Mustafa said there had been controversies and disputes at the victim’s house, where the family shifted two months ago. He believed the murder was linked to the domestic problems.
Women’s Affairs Director Khawar Amiri confirmed the woman’s decapitation, but had no further details.
Over the past three months, about eight women have been killed for different reasons in Khost and Paktia provinces, says a local human rights watchdog.
