Mass grave found in northern Afghanistan

The remains of the bodies and their clothes indicated that all the dead were civilians

A mass grave containing the remains of at least 20 bodies was discovered west of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Afghan northern Balkh province, the Pajhwok news agency says.

The burial site was discovered by road constructors.

The remains of the bodies and their clothes indicated that all the dead were civilians.

A special commission was set up to investigate the case.

Most graves found on Afghan territory date back to the 1990s, the time of fierce clashes between Pashtun Talibs and the Northern Alliance, which included Tajiks, Hazara, Uzbeks, and Turkmen.
