Teacher gang-raped in Baghlan

She was kidnapped by unidentified armed men on her way to the district centre for medical treatment

By Habib Rahman Sherzai

Unidentified gunmen gang-raped a kidnapped schoolteacher in Pul-i-Khumri, the capital of northern Baghlan province, officials said on Saturday.

The woman teacher was abducted by armed men from the eighth road of Baghlan-i-Markazi district late on Thursday, Col. Mohammad Kamin, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said the abductors released the teenage teacher in the Salamkhel area after subjecting her to sexual aggression. Investigations were ongoing into the incident, but no one has been detained so far.

Education Director Saeed Mansoor said the teacher at the Puza-i-Ishan Girls School was aged between 18 to 20 years. She was kidnapped by unidentified armed men on her way to the district centre for medical treatment.

Waheed Siddiqui, a doctor at the district hospital, said medical tests showed the girl had been raped.
