An Afghan Woman Beheaded in Zabul

Jamila, a friend of Zakira, told PAN that Taliban had threatened Zakira three times to stop working in government offices

A woman in Qalat city of Zabul was killed in a mysterious manner.

A police source who refused to name himself, told PAN on May 3rd that this incident had occurred in the Kharwarian area of Qalat. According to him the woman killed was called Zakira and her body had been found this morning by the security forces near the Kabul-Kandahar Highway.

The source added that the real reason for the murder was not known by the police had arrested a suspect.

Nematullah, a resident of Kharwarian, told PAN that the deceased worked in government and non-government organizations but had been jobless recently. He said unknown men had cut her head off.

Jamila, a friend of Zakira, told PAN that Taliban had threatened Zakira three times to stop working in government offices. She added that Zakira had been kidnapped the night before, cut with a knife and then her head had been cut off and her body thrown at the door.

Nobody has claimed responsibility for the murder. A year back a woman who worked in the elections commission was also killed in Zabul.
