Two explosions in the restive southern Helmand and western Farah provinces of Afghanistan on Friday wounded over a dozen people, mostly civilians, the Interior Ministry said in a press release on Saturday.

In the first incident, according to the press release, militants planted explosive device on a bicycle and detonated it in Aziz Khan village of Musa Qala district, Helmand province, injuring seven civilians.

The press release also said that in the second incident, militants hurled a hand grenade in Farah city, the capital of same name province Farah on Friday. As a result, three policemen and five civilians sustained injuries.

Taliban militants who staged a violent comeback in 2006 have intensified their activities, mostly in the shape of roadside bombings and suicide attacks which often claim the life of civilians.
