Gul Afroz, 13-Year Old Gang-Rape Victim Demands Severe Punishment for the Rapists

"This sentence was given with the intervention of powerful men"

Sahak

Authorities of the Human Rights Organization and Gul Afroz’s family, a girl who was raped, demanded severe punishment for the people accused of being involved in the crime; saying the order of the preliminary court of the Sar-e-Pul province is not enough.

While wandering in the streets of Sar-e-Pul City, waiting for the punishment of the people involved in the matter, Gul Afroz says they have threatened her family that if they refer to the government she will be killed along with her family.

The family of this girl says the rapists belong to former armed militias and they are also supported by an MP representing Sar-e-Pul in the Parliament.

Meanwhile, Ms. Maghfirat Samimi, the person in charge of the Human Rights Organization in this province, also confirmed the sayings of the accusers that the rapists were former armed men. She said the sentence of the preliminary court of Sar-e-Pul to 12 years in prison is not enough and this sentence was given with the intervention of powerful men.

13-year old Gul Afroz was gang-raped by two armed men three months back in the Kohistanat District of Sar-e-Pul Province. The accusers are not contented with the sentence of the court.
