In the past week this is the second case of rape of small children in Afghanistan that has been recorded officially

The police of Kabul say that they have arrested seven people for having raped a 12-year old girl in the city.

The command police of Kabul said that the matter of the rape of the girl had been reported to them two days earlier and the girl had claimed that she had been raped by twelve men.

Ayub Salangi, the commander of the police of Kabul said that the several guilty men are under the sight of security forces.

In the past week this is the second case of rape of small children in Afghanistan that has been recorded officially.

The past week a family in the North-east province of Qunduz reported that four people had gang-raped their small daughter.

The Qunduz police said they had arrested three people involved in the matter.

Earlier this summer, Afghan president Hamid Karzai pardoned three men convicted of gang-raping a woman in the northern province of Samangan. The rape took place in 2005 in front of the woman's village, after she had harangued the local warlord's men for forcing her son to become a soldier.

Legal Action?

The similarity between both the cases of rape is that the rapists had first kidnapped their victims and then raped them.

The Kabul Police said that the people who have committed this crime have been trailed and seven of them have been arrested till now.

General Ayub Salangi, the commander of Kabul Police said, “The girl herself claims that she had been raped by twelve men. We have arrested seven of them and the other five have escaped. We are trying to detain them as well.”

He added, “After the Attorney completes its investigation, according to the law of Afghanistan action will be taken against the rapists.”

Recently, Hamid Karzai, the president of Afghanistan, fired some security official in Northern Afghanistan for being careless in arresting the people responsible for raping.

Rape of children in Afghanistan has also seriously worried human rights organizations.

Human rights activists in Afghanistan criticize the lack of serious action of the police and judicial bodies against rape and punishment of the guilty which has led to the increase of this problem in Afghanistan.
