On July 26, 2008, an Afghan woman was killed by her husband in Badakhshan province, in north of Afghanistan.
18-year-old Barg Gul from Charmaghz village of Kashm district was being beaten by her husband, Amanullah, every day. She complained to Niazi, the district chief, a number of times about the ill-treatment but officials did not pay any attention to her case.
When Amanullah finds out that his wife has complained to the district chief, he strangulates her to death in the mid-night.
Such terrible incidents happen across Afghanistan on daily bases, but in the male-chauvinistic society, abusers are not punished to stop such crimes against women.
