Amina wanted to run away to Pakistan with Nuruddin but when they were in Kandahar their relatives revealed the place they were hiding in and both of them were returned to Farah.

Mohammad Younis Rasooli the Deputy Governor of Farah says the death penalty of the woman was carried out according to the decision of the local council of the village and her husband.

Lailuma Siddiqui, coordinator of the local office of the Ministry of Women told Pajhwok News Agency that security problems and tribal customs didn’t allow them to find out about the case on time and thus couldn’t take any steps to solve it legally. She added that abuse against women had increased this year and in addition to many cases of beating and forced marriages, there are at least four cases where women had been killed by their relatives. The women had been killed with stones or rifles or had been strangled. Due to poor security conditions and some social problems, the exact number of the victims of domestic violence cannot be recorded but such cases may exist in a larger number, especially in rural areas, said Siddiqui.
