TALUQAN: After the blood-curdling incident in Kunduz province yet another baby was sold due to extreme poverty and hunger in northern Takhar province
Abdul Latif Ebrahimi, governor of Takhar told Pajhwok Afghan News the family who sold their nine month old daughter due to poverty and hunger for 12000 afghanis, live in Chah Aab district.
Ebrahimi said the mother had delivered twins and was unable to feed them, so she sold one baby out of fear that she might be starved.
The governor said the mother sold her daughter on Sunday and when she was handing over her daughter she was crying.
He added, they have sent a commission to investigate the case and he personally sent 12000 afghanis to give it to the person who bought the infant and return her back to her family.
The parents were not ready to comment, but one of their neighbors Azimullah said the child was sold to a wealthy person in the district.
He said the family live in poor conditions and the mother was too weak to feed to babies.
