Afghan woman stoned to death for adultery

A woman has been stoned to death in the eastern Afghan province of Laghman after the judges found her guilty of adultery, Afghanistan’s official Kabul radio said.

The broadcast, monitored in Islamabad, did not give the date of the execution of Jamila, who it said was sentenced after her husband, Aminullah caught her while trying to flee with a stranger Abdullah, to another district in Laghman.

Aminullah killed Abdullah and was sentenced to 12 years in jail, said the radio, “Jamila was stoned to death on the charge of adultery”: the radio said. It did not say who did the stoning or whether it was carried out in public.
