RAWA in drought-stricken villages of Herat


Donkeys have become a basic necessity for village folk. The patient beasts are indispensable for bringing drinking water from distances hours away. Drinking water, although life sustaining, is also a primary source of infection and disease as there are no filtering and disinfecting means, and fuel is too scarce to boil drinking water.
